What We Believe

Our Core Values — What

They Mean

As you take the time to read through this list of Core Values, please realize what they represent. These  are the things we hold dear — the

non-negotiables, if you please — when it comes to how we do ministry. This list embodies those things that are near and dear to our hearts as a  congregation. These are the values that guide us in how we choose to carry out the ministry God has assigned to our specific congregation. This isn’t the sum of everything we believe, but it should give you a good idea of what we consider foundational for ministry (Ephesians 2:19-20).

#1 - The Bible — our authority.

The Bible is our authority in all our beliefs and behavior. It is inerrant and infallible. It must be preached, taught, and communicated in a relevant fashion. The Bible informs every arena of life; thus obedience to its precepts is mandatory.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17; Ephesians 2:20; Matthew 5:18-1 9)

#2 - Our goal — God’s glory:

The goal for which we should strive in all we do is the glory of God.  All that we do should have this high aim as its objective.

(1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 3:20-21;  1 Timothy 1:17)

#3 - Man’s basic need:

Man’s basic need is to experience a personal relationship with God. People matter to God, and they must matter to us.

(John 3:3-8; Romans 3:21-24; Ephesians 2:4-10)

#4 - The local church:

The local church is the most accurate expression of Jesus Christ in the world today. Our congregation must display the character of Jesus Christ to a needy world, demonstrating integrity, authenticity, and excellence in all we do, caring deeply that Christ is well represented.

(Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 3:20-21; 1 Peter 2:11-1 2)

#5 — Worship:

Worship that brings the participant into a personal encounter with God is absolutely essential. As humans, we need it; and God deserves it.

(John 4:21 -24; 1 Corinthians 14:24-25; Hebrews 12:28-29)

#6: Our task—to tell the Good News:

It is the assignment of every Christian   individually, and of our local congregation collectively, to communicate intentionally the gospel to every person — both locally and globally.

(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Acts 20:20- 21; Acts 19:10)

#7 - Spiritual growth:

Believers are to grow in their faith, progressively revealing Christ’s character and applying the principles of God’s Word to their lives.

(Ephesians 4:15; 2 Peter 1:3-9; 2 Peter 3:17)

#8— Relationships are key:

The underpinning of all we do as a congregation is personal relationships. Opportunities for evangelism, spiritual development, personal encouragement, and accountability are provided most effectively when people connect with each other in  caring friendships.

(Mark 3:13-1 9; Acts 2:42-47; Acts 9:26-28 & 11:25-26; 2 Timothy 2:2)

#9 - Every member a minister:

Every member of our congregation is to be involved in ministry, utilizing his or her   spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ.

(Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12:4-27; Acts 8:1,4)

#10 — Families matter:

Families matter to God and should matter to us. Strong families produce strong churches and a strong culture. Our family relationships should accurately reflect the principles of God’s Word.

(Ephesians 5:22 — 6:4; Colossians 3:18-21; 1 Peter 3:1-7)
